Microlearning Software Introduction: Instructional Video made with Camtasia
Project Description: A sample from a microlearning video created in Camtasia, featuring the branded intro segment. This portion demonstrates how I use visual assets to reinforce narration and guide learners’ attention — even within a proprietary software environment.
Problem:
New users were often overwhelmed by the complexity of the software interface, creating a need for short, targeted training that could quickly build confidence and reduce support requests.
Solution:
I created a microlearning video that introduced the software’s core functions in a clear, approachable way. For proprietary reasons, I can only showcase the branded intro portion, which demonstrates how I paired narration with carefully chosen visual assets to guide learner focus and support comprehension.
Tools:
Camtasia, Rev, Audiate, Cloudshare
Process Highlights:
Scripted a concise introduction designed to reduce cognitive load.
Selected and layered visual assets to match narration and reinforce key points.
Recorded and edited audio for clarity, then synchronized with on-screen motion.
Applied branded transitions and styles (blurred in the demo version) to maintain a professional look.
Project Impact:
The full video helped users become familiar with essential software features more quickly, leading to smoother adoption and fewer help-desk tickets. The intro segment, now featured in my portfolio, highlights how visuals and narration can work together to create an engaging microlearning experience.
What I Learned:
I learned how to adapt video samples for portfolio use while respecting proprietary restrictions, and how visual design choices can significantly enhance learner comprehension in short-form content.
